PHILCAMSAT conducts Magna Carta for Seafarers orientation for PTC and JP Crewing executives

On January 21, 2025, PHILCAMSAT convened a meeting for the Crewing Executives of PTC and Jebsen-PTC to provide an orientation on the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of the Magna Carta for Seafarers, with a particular emphasis on Rule XVIII: Impacts on Seafarers, Cadets, and the Maritime Industry.

The meeting was led by Capt. Pol Winston Haboc, General Manager and Head of PTC Shipping’s Education and Training Team. It brought together prominent industry leaders, including Mr. Peter Lugue, Vice President for Crewing Operations of PTC, and Ms. Thess Lunzaga, Vice President for Crewing Operations of Jebsen-PTC, along with Fleet Managers from both organizations’ Crewing Departments.

C/E Alfredo Haboc, Senior Adviser to the Shipping Education Business, facilitated an in-depth discussion on the education and training provisions outlined in the IRR of the Magna Carta for Seafarers. Following this, Mr. Jun Barruga, Manager of PHILCAMSAT’s Career Development Center (CDC), delivered a presentation highlighting the CDC’s initiatives.

The discussion addressed the integral roles of the CDC and Crewing Operations in the Cadetship Program, as well as the deployment strategies employed by both PTC and Jebsen-PTC. Attendees also engaged in dialogue about current challenges and future plans aimed at ensuring the ongoing development of the company’s talent pipeline.
