PTC RISE and RSE Foundation bring hot meals to flood victims in Rizal
SEPTEMBER 30, 2024
In response to the recent flooding caused by Tropical Storm Enteng, the PTC RISE Program and the Resilience and Sustainability for Empowerment (RSE) Foundation conducted a swift and efficient hot meals relief effort for families in evacuation camps in San Mateo and Antipolo City, in the Province of Rizal on September 6.
The relief mission, coordinated by the PTC RISE Program and executed in partnership with the RSE Foundation, successfully delivered prepared hot meals to a total of 1,672 individuals from 392 families displaced by the floods. The beneficiaries were from Santa Ana (574 individuals) and Guinayang Elementary Schools (423 individuals) in San Mateo, as well as Kingsville Evacuation Center (160 individuals) in Barangay Mayamot and Jesus Cabarrus Elementary School (515 individuals) in Puting Bato, Antipolo City.
“Hot meals are essential for displaced families who have been away from their homes due to the floods,” said Hector Brizuela, Manager for Programs and Initiatives of RSE Foundation. “By providing these nutritious meals, we aim to alleviate their immediate needs and offer some comfort during this challenging time.”
The PTC RISE Program, a key initiative of Philippine Transmarine Carriers, Inc., is dedicated to enhancing disaster resilience by supporting various sectors to ensure community safety and preparedness for hazards. This program also aids in the recovery process from the devastating effects of disasters.
“The success of this hot meals relief effort was made possible through the generous support of our maritime and multi-sector partners, including the principals of PTC,” said Josh McCarver, Lead Program Officer of the PTC RISE Program. “We are committed to continuing our efforts to help communities recover and build resilience against future disasters.” The relief teams worked tirelessly to ensure that the meals reached the affected families as quickly as possible.
The relief effort was also made possible through the support of various maritime and multi-sector partners who contributed through the RSE Foundation. The Municipal and City Social Welfare and Development Offices of San Mateo and Antipolo City also played a vital role in supporting the effort.
