The PTC RISE Program team successfully conducted the RISE Program for Safe Schools-Citizen Training Program (RPSS-CTP) for students, teachers, and staff of the Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division Office (SDO) of San Pedro City, Laguna, on October 1, 2024, at the San Pedro Relocation Center National High School.
Led by PTC Talent Acquisition Group Program Manager Hector Brizuela, along with Lead Program Officer Josh McCarver, Project Associate Crystal Lopez, and CORE Resilience Consultancy Inc. Training Specialists Jhun Servano and Jonamae Fabale, the event saw participation from over 90 students, teachers, and SDO staff. They learned about proper preparedness and appropriate responses to potential hazards that could lead to disasters.
The program was spearheaded by DepEd SDO San Pedro City Schools Division Superintendent Rogelio Opulencia, along with Chief Education Supervisor-SGOD Frederick Byrd, Jr., and Atty. Sheila Mae Laude. They expressed their gratitude to the PTC RISE Program for launching this important initiative on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and encouraged participants to internalize and apply what they learned for their safety, as well as that of their families and schools.
As part of the program, the PTC RISE Program team engaged participants with the "Master of Disaster" (MOD) Board Game, which was well-received. Additionally, the team donated five (5) MOD Board Game sets for the SDO City of San Pedro to use in their DRR programs.
