PTC-CSJ scholars complete Wellbeing and Resilience Training at PHILCAMSAT

DECEMBER 13, 2024

Eleven scholars (10 current and one graduate) from the Mapúa-PTC College of Maritime Education and Training, supported by the PTC-CSJ Foundation and TK Foundation, successfully completed the Wellbeing and Resilience (Positive Mental Health) training on December 5, 2024, at PHILCAMSAT.

The course, designed to empower future seafarers with tools for maintaining mental wellness, was facilitated by Ms. Hyacinth Jane Sales. She commended the scholars for their enthusiasm and maturity during the session.

“I had a great time teaching the group. Most were enthusiastic, attentive, and eager. They seemed mature and wise in sharing their thoughts and opinions, and they weren’t afraid to express themselves,” shared Hyacinth.

As scholar Michelle Belling shared, “I found the counseling sessions to be both relaxing and informative. They provided a safe space for us to express our perspectives on wellbeing and resilience. Our facilitator guided us in understanding these concepts more deeply and shared valuable advice that encouraged us to express ourselves in ways we had never considered before.” The scholarship and training are part of the PTC-CSJ’s Nurturing Future Seafarers (NFS) – Batch 3 Program which is generously supported by the TK Foundation.

The training reflects the commitment of PHILCAMSAT, PTC-CSJ and TK Foundation to nurture well-rounded maritime professionals equipped with both technical skills and mental resilience to face the challenges of their future careers at sea.
