Shaping maritime minds: PTC Masterclass Series guides students towards excellence at BMA

The Philippine Transmarine Carriers (PTC) Masterclass Series held at Baliwag Maritime Academy (BMA) in San Rafael, Bulacan, on March 14, 2024, provided a transformative experience for 3rd and 4th year Maritime Transportation and Engineering students. The event, featuring seasoned PTC Global Maritime Professionals (GMP) Capt. Florencio Jampil and Engr. Marianne Camille Pastolero served as a platform for students to gain invaluable insights into the maritime industry and its demands. Engr. Pastolero discussed the essential qualities of a PTC GMP emphasizing integrity, diligence, adaptability, continuous learning, teamwork, positive attitude, problem-solving skills, and a strong commitment to safety and environmental sustainability. Her comprehensive portrayal underscored the multifaceted nature of a PTC GMP and highlighted the importance of holistic development for success. Capt. Jampil complemented Engr. Pastolero's insights with personal anecdotes and practical advice, stress the significance of skills, knowledge, goal-setting, and adaptability in navigating the challenges and opportunities inherent in a seafaring career. His passionate discourse resonated deeply with the students, motivating them to aspire for excellence and resilience in their pursuit of maritime success. The gratitude expressed by Capt. Maximo Pestano, BMA School Administrator expressed that the PTC Talent Acquisition Group (TAG) reflected the significance of such initiatives in enriching students 'educational experiences. His acknowledgment underscored the impact of industry collaboration in bridging the gap between academic learning and practical application, preparing students for the rigors of the maritime profession. "Thank you very much to the PTC-TAG team for bringing the PTC Masterclass to our school. This is a great opportunity for our students as you have provided insightful and inspiring words of wisdom and imparted your expertise. These students look forward to participating in the upcoming mock interview at the PTC office on March 21 with the hope of preparing them as they apply for their cadetship program. This initiative by the PTC TAG not only equipped students with the essential tools and knowledge but also instilled in them a sense of purpose and determination to excel as future Global Maritime Professionals in the maritime community. |
