PTC Group at the WMU Maritime Regional Conference

The PTC Group proudly participated in the World Maritime University—Philippine Alumni Association, Inc. (WMUPAAI) Maritime Regional Conference held on May 30 at the Manila Hotel. The event, themed "Navigating the Future: Safety through International Cooperation," aimed to bolster the maritime industry by enhancing maritime knowledge through the sharing of valuable insights, best practices, and experiences of eminent WMU graduates and maritime experts. The conference underscored the importance of regional and international cooperation to ensure the sustainability and advancement of the maritime sector. This year’s conference also coincided with the Philippine Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) celebrating its 50th anniversary, making the event a significant milestone in reflecting upon and celebrating the remarkable achievements within the maritime industry.

PTC Group's delegation included CEO Gerardo Borromeo, who serves as Chairperson of the WMU Executive Board. Mr. Borromeo delivered an inspirational address, emphasizing the pivotal role of international cooperation in navigating the future of maritime safety and sustainability. Additionally, Capt. Pol Haboc, Head of PHILCAMSAT & The MAST, contributed to the panel discussion on "Global Best Practices and Challenges in Just Transition including GHG emissions, and the Comprehensive Review of the STCW Convention, 1978, as Amended."

The event gathered WMU alumni from the region and various maritime industry stakeholders, facilitating a robust exchange of ideas and reinforcing the commitment to propelling the maritime sector toward a safer and more sustainable future.
