Philippine Transmarine Carriers (PTC) RISE Program establishes Volunteer Network in Iloilo City

MAY 15, 2024

The Philippine Transmarine Carriers (PTC) RISE Program team successfully established the RISE Program Volunteer Network-Iloilo City last April 23 at the Diamond Jubilee Hall, Iloilo City. The network comprises Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Volunteers aiming to unite and participate in DRR efforts and initiatives conducted in RISE Program partner communities, schools, and sectors. Here, they continue learning and training further in DRR. Co-supervised by the Philippine Transmarine Carriers (PTC) RISE Program and the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (LDRRMO) of partner communities, the network welcomed over 49 RISE Program Master Trainers from Iloilo City, officially becoming members of the pioneering RISE Program Volunteer Network in the Philippines.

As part of the program, participants also elected interim officers to lead and assist in promoting a culture of safety and communal engagement through volunteerism, alongside the Philippine Transmarine Carriers (PTC) RISE Program and Iloilo City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.

Following this, the Philippine Transmarine Carriers (PTC) RISE Team, in partnership with the Iloilo City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, conducted Basic First Aid Training for members of the RISE Program Volunteer Network-Iloilo City on April 24. Under the leadership of Iloilo CDRRMO Medical Director Dr. Johnilyn Gargaritano, RISE Program Master Trainers were taught initial remedies for accidents or emergencies, which can help save lives.

The Philippine Transmarine Carriers (PTC) RISE Team acknowledges the Iloilo City Government under the leadership of Mayor Jerry TreƱas, together with the Iloilo CDRRMO led by Department Head Ms. Donna Magno, for their unwavering support in making this program possible.
