PHILCAMSAT conducts ECDIS Familiarization training for Phil. Coast Guard
APRIL 5, 2024
PHILCAMSAT and the Philippine Coast Guard graced the start of the two-day "ECDIS Familiarization Courseā for PCG Port State Control Officers (PSCO), last March 12, 2024, through a simple ceremony attended by PHILCAMSAT Management personnel, headed by C/E Alfredo G. Haboc, the QA and Program Director of Philcamsat and the PCG officers and personnel headed by CG VADM Joseph M. Coyme. This opening ceremony was also attended by PTCI, Shipmanagement, and Jebsen-Philippine Transmarine Carriers (PTC) representatives. This PHILCAMSAT and PCG training collaboration is the manifestation of the commitment to continue the PHILCAMSAT-PCG linkage through education and training that will enhance the competence of PCG officers and personnel as well as PHILCAMSAT officers and personnel. As mentioned by VADM. Coyme, Coast Guard as a seagoing profession, training is very important. This ensures maritime safety and navigational safety within the Philippines when ships are navigating within its territory and when the ships are in port through the regulatory regime of Port State control. The course held two batches from March 12 to 13 and March 14 to 15 respectively. This mutually beneficial collaboration which started back in 2008 will continue to be pursued to fulfill the training requirements of each organization. |
