Seafarers and their rights take center stage as the International Transport Workers Federation (ITF) holds a three-day expo happening from June 23 to 25 at the CCP Complex, Pasay City. PTC is supporting the Expo as one of the exhibitors.
The Expo aims to inform seafarers about their rights and the critical role the ITF and its affiliated seafarers’ unions play in supporting seafarers all across the world. Approximately 5,000 seafarers and their families are expected to attend the three-day event.
Fun activities such as basketball games, a talent quest, and other activities will be conducted both to entertain guests and encourage seafarers to learn about their rights.
The Expo showcases learning and earning opportunities for seafarers in a changing maritime industry, with international experts on hand to provide guidance and workshops, educating crew on how to stay happy and healthy onboard. Seafarers will also be able to find out about key local and international welfare support organizations which are available to assist them and their families in times of need. The Expo culminates with a festive celebration of the Day of the Seafarer on June 25. The event is organized by the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF), the global voice of the world’s seafarers since 1896.
