PTC Masterclass heads to VMA Global College

The Philippine Transmarine Carriers (PTC) Inc. Talent Acquisition Group brought one of its programs, the PTC Masterclass Series, to VMA Global College in Bacolod City on May 17, 2024. This significant event marked the first occasion the Masterclass was held outside of Luzon and inaugurated the collaborative efforts following a new partnership with VMA Global College. The session featured esteemed PTC professionals, Engr. Ronald Macalintal, PTCI AVP for Crewing Operations, and Hector Manuel Brizuela, PTC-TAG Pipeline Engagement Program Manager, who engaged with nearly 700 deck and engine cadets, providing them with invaluable insights into the maritime industry. The cadets had a unique opportunity to ask questions, listen to actual experiences, and receive expert advice on navigating the complexities and opportunities of their future maritime careers. Engr. Macalintal generously shared his extensive experience and emphasized the essential skills and values necessary for success in the maritime field. He highlighted the rewarding yet demanding nature of a seafarer's career, stressing the importance of setting goals and adaptability in the dynamic maritime sector. At the end of his talk, Eng. Macalintal encouraged students to not only develop their practical skills but also cultivate qualities like integrity, humility, and perseverance. Hex enriched the discussion by outlining the qualities and characteristics of a PTC Global Maritime Professional. He emphasized the importance of integrity, dignity, and professionalism, the need for continuous learning, and the purposeful pursuit of doing good. He also pointed out the critical role of teamwork, a positive attitude, problem-solving skills, and a steadfast commitment to safety and environmental sustainability and added that sustainability and resilience are essential for adapting to the ever-changing challenges of the maritime industry. His comprehensive overview provided the cadets with a clear understanding of what it takes to be a PTC GMP and underscored the values that The PTC Group upholds. The event was a profound learning experience, bridging theoretical knowledge with practical wisdom, and setting a strong foundation for the cadets' future maritime careers. It inspired and better prepared the cadets to navigate the complexities of the maritime industry with a strong sense of purpose and responsibility. PTC-TAG and VMA Global College eagerly anticipate the promising future of these global maritime professionals, confident that they will lead the industry toward new horizons. After the activity, Capt. Nino Elson O. Salabas, MSM, VMA VP for Maritime Studies graciously provided a tour of VMA's facility and training center showcasing improvements that VMA management continues to make for a better learning experience for their students. |
