Future pilots gain their wings with FAA

DECEMBER 9, 2022

First Aviation Academy (FAA) congratulates its Private Pilot License (PPL) program trainees for successfully completing their first solo flight at the FAA campus in Subic.

The first solo flight is an essential milestone in the life of every pilot. No matter how many flights a pilot has earned in his or her flying career, the first solo flight experience remains a memorable one. This activity is usually conducted following 10 or more hours of initial flight training with a flight instructor. After gaining the confidence of the flight instructor, the trainee will be allowed to do a takeoff, fly a flight pattern and land the aircraft on their own as their instructor and family witnesses the event from the ground.

After the successful maneuver, the pilot trainee will be drenched in water as a form of initiation and will be given a wings badge which now becomes part of his or her uniform.
