PTC Group CEO and Vice Chairman Gerardo A. Borromeo joined industry and government leaders in a discussion on the Philippines’ potential to strengthen its position as a regional maritime hub during the inaugural Luzon Economic Corridor (LEC) Investment Forum on September 10 at the Grand Hyatt Manila in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
Mr. Borromeo participated in the breakout session “Positioning the Philippines as a Regional Maritime Hub,” which explored how the country’s strategic location along major global shipping routes can serve as a foundation for greater investment and growth across the maritime economy. The session was moderated by Franz-Michael Mellbin, Ambassador of Denmark to the Philippines.
The discussion examined opportunities in shipbuilding, ship repair, and other maritime industries, and how investments in these areas can strengthen the Philippines’ industrial competitiveness, support resilient supply chains, and reinforce the Luzon Economic Corridor as a gateway for regional trade and investment.
Co-hosted by the governments of the United States, the Philippines, and Japan, with sponsorship from the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), the two-day forum brought together around 600 international investors, industry leaders, project developers, and government officials to showcase investment opportunities and connect stakeholders with infrastructure projects across the LEC.
The Luzon Economic Corridor links Subic Bay, Clark, Manila, and Batangas, encompassing the country’s largest economic engine and serving as a major hub for manufacturing, logistics, and trade.
PTC’s participation in the forum reflects its continuing role in conversations that shape the future of the Philippine maritime industry and the country’s broader position in the global maritime economy.
