The Mapúa-PTC College of Maritime Education and Training (CMET) successfully held its bootcamp at the Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna campus in Cabuyao, Laguna, last July 4, 2026, welcoming aspiring maritime students eager to chart their future careers.
The event kicked off with inspiring opening remarks from C/E Alfredo G. Haboc, Mapúa-PTC CMET Deputy Dean and PHILCAMSAT Senior Adviser for Shipping Education Business. To give participants a clear view of their potential academic journeys, Program Chairs C/M Dennis R. Dumoran and C/E Ruben C. Bolivar provided a comprehensive introduction to the Marine Transportation and Marine Engineering programs, respectively.
C/E Mark Phillip R. Laurilla, PHILCAMSAT Training Manager – Digital Transformation and Innovation, anchored a compelling discussion on the immense benefits and rewards of the seafaring profession.
Steering the cadets into the raw realities of “Life Onboard” was Second Mate Daimler Dave D. Nisco, preparing them for the vast horizons ahead. Putting their problem-solving and leadership skills to the test, the participants also took part in the “Captain’s Challenge” workshop—a hands-on simulation reflecting the rigorous, real-world training that CMET students undergo at Mapúa MCL.
