PHILCAMSAT partners with PisoPay to strengthen digital enrollment and expand market reach

New payment gateway supports online enrollment, improves customer convenience, and opens more opportunities in both local and international markets

PHILCAMSAT marked another important milestone in its digital transformation journey with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement with PisoPay on July 8, 2026.

Ms. Beng Cristobal, Chief Operating Officer of the PTC Shipping Cluster, signed the agreement on behalf of PHILCAMSAT. The partnership aims to improve payment options for trainees, particularly those enrolling through PHILCAMSAT’s online enrollment channels.

At the heart of the initiative is a simple but important objective: to make it easier for prospective trainees to complete their enrollment.

For individual customers, choosing a course is only the first step. A complicated or inconvenient payment process may delay a transaction or discourage an interested applicant from proceeding. By providing a more accessible payment gateway, PHILCAMSAT aims to reduce this friction and convert more inquiries and enrollment attempts into confirmed registrations. The initiative is particularly relevant as PHILCAMSAT continues to expand its business-to-consumer, or B2C, market.

While the training center has traditionally maintained strong relationships with shipping companies and corporate clients, more seafarers and industry professionals are now choosing and paying for training independently. PHILCAMSAT’s MARINA-accredited Distance Learning courses have already shown an increase in online enrollments from individual trainees.

PHILCAMSAT’s OPITO and Global Wind Organisation courses also occasionally attract B2C clients, including professionals seeking specialized training for employment, certification, or career advancement. For these customers, the ability to enroll and pay through a convenient online system can strongly influence whether they proceed with a course.

The potential market is not limited to customers within the Philippines.

A more seamless online enrollment and payment process can also make PHILCAMSAT’s training programs more accessible to Filipino seafarers working or residing overseas, as well as international maritime, offshore, and renewable energy professionals looking for recognized training options. By reducing geographical and transactional barriers, PHILCAMSAT can attract learners who may not be able to visit the training center before enrolling.

This is especially important for distance learning, where the entire customer journey—from course discovery and registration to payment and participation—can take place remotely. A convenient payment gateway can therefore help PHILCAMSAT extend its reach beyond its traditional local market and position its programs before a wider international audience.

A better payment experience can do more than improve administrative efficiency. It can increase enrollment conversions, support self-sponsored trainees, and make PHILCAMSAT’s courses more accessible to customers who may be onboard, outside Metro Manila, or based outside the country.

The choice of PisoPay also brings relevant maritime-sector experience to the partnership. PisoPay has previously provided payment collection services to the Maritime Industry Authority, including digital payment arrangements and transaction support for MARINA stakeholders.

Its previous involvement with MARINA gives PisoPay familiarity with the payment requirements and transaction patterns of Filipino seafarers and other maritime customers. This experience is particularly valuable as PHILCAMSAT strengthens its own direct-to-consumer digital services.

The partnership forms part of PHILCAMSAT’s broader digitalization initiative spearheaded by C/E Mark Phillip “Chief MAKOi” Laurilla, Training Manager for Digital Transformation and Innovation.

Under this initiative, PHILCAMSAT is progressively building a more integrated digital training ecosystem that connects online enrollment, digital payment, distance learning, learning management systems, computer-based training, and other technology-enabled services.

The objective is not simply to convert existing processes into digital form. It is to make training easier to discover, access, purchase, and complete—regardless of where the learner is located.

As customer expectations continue to evolve, convenience has become an important part of service quality. Learners increasingly expect to complete transactions online, receive timely confirmation, and access services without unnecessary delays or physical visits.

Through its partnership with PisoPay, PHILCAMSAT is responding to these expectations while creating opportunities to grow both its domestic and international B2C markets.

The MOA signing represents another step toward a more connected, accessible, and customer-focused PHILCAMSAT—one that combines its established expertise in maritime and offshore training with the digital capabilities needed to serve learners wherever they may be.
