The PTC Group joined the maritime community in highlighting the importance of women’s leadership and participation in the industry during the Women in Maritime Forum held on September 22, 2026, as part of National Maritime Week.
Organized by the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), Women in Maritime Asia (WIMA ASIA), and Women in Maritime Philippines (WIMAPHIL), the forum brought together maritime leaders and stakeholders to discuss women’s leadership, advocacy, the blue economy, and the importance of creating safe and inclusive spaces across the sector.
PTC Executive Managing Director and WIMAPHIL Board Member Christina Manzano delivered the welcome remarks, underscoring the importance of ensuring that women have meaningful opportunities to contribute to and shape the future of the maritime industry.
“As this blue maritime horizon continues to take shape in the years ahead, women must have every opportunity not only to be a part of it, but to help define it,” Ms. Manzano said.
A key highlight of the forum was the signing of a Manifesto of Commitment by MARINA, WIMA ASIA, and WIMAPHIL, formalizing their shared commitment to strengthen collaboration and advance opportunities for women to participate and lead in the maritime sector.
The forum also featured discussions on the blue economy and women’s leadership, including an environmental outlook session and a panel featuring women leaders from various maritime and government agencies. Other sessions explored advocacy and visibility, women’s experiences amid adversity, and the promotion of safe seas and safe spaces.
Through its participation, PTC continues to support industry-wide conversations that recognize the contributions of women and encourage greater opportunities for women to take part in shaping the future of the maritime sector.
