The PTC TAG-PEP team facilitated the PTC OFW Program Orientation and Family Disaster Preparedness Lecture for Iloilo City BESOs at the Diamond Jubilee Hall in Iloilo City on July 27, 2026, following the signing of their partnership with the Iloilo City Government.
More than 110 Iloilo City BESOs attended the activity, where they were oriented and became knowledgeable about the PTC OFW Program and its target activation in the city.
Iloilo City PESO CARES Division Head Eurose Cara Jewel Tiaño explained that the PTC OFW Program is an initiative that will greatly benefit the city, and the BESOs can significantly contribute to its success. “We are thankful to PTC for launching the PTC OFW Program in Iloilo City, and through our BESOs, we can implement the program with ease and close coordination to ensure that Iloilo City OFWs and their families can benefit from this. We at Iloilo City PESO look forward to the unwavering commitment and support from the BESOs so we can altogether bring proactive and responsive service to our OFWs.”
PTC TAG-PEP Lead Program Officer Josh McCarver led the orientation to more than 110 Iloilo City BESOs across the barangays in Iloilo City, emphasizing the importance of the BESOs in each of the 180 barangays in the city. “Iloilo City, with its 180 barangays, is fortunate that Iloilo City PESO organized the BESOs who are the advocates and network of the city for career opportunities. You will form an essential part of the PTC OFW Program in the context of reaching migrant workers and their families, ensuring that they can participate in our activities and they can directly benefit from the welfare support program we’ll facilitate altogether.
After the PTC OFW Program orientation, representatives from the Iloilo City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), led by BDRRMS Staff Cel John Magbanua and Joan Lampitco, facilitated the Family Disaster Preparedness Lecture, in observance of the National Disaster Resilience Month 2026.
Iloilo City BESOs were educated on what hazards and risks are present in Iloilo City, what they can do to actively prepare for and proactively respond to hazards and disasters that might happen to their families and in their communities, and what disaster preparedness measures they can observe before, during, and after hazards or disasters. They were also encouraged to build an emergency go-bag within their homes, to anticipate any possible evacuation.
