The Blueprint to Financial Success: Essential Money Skills for Career and Life, a collaborative initiative of the Office for Strategic Partnerships and Global Engagement (OSPGE) and the Mapúa-PTC College of Maritime Education and Training (CMET), in partnership with RCBC, successfully concluded after three financial literacy sessions held on July 29 and 31, 2026, at Café Enrique, E.T. Yuchengco Building.
Designed to prepare Mapua-PTC CMET cadets, many of whom are expected to begin their shipboard deployment soon, the program equipped participants with practical knowledge on personal finance and responsible money management. As they take the next step in their maritime careers, the sessions emphasized the importance of developing healthy financial habits that contribute to long-term financial stability.
Across the three sessions, participants explored the module “Let’s Make a Life Plan,” which encouraged them to reflect on their personal aspirations, identify short- and long-term financial goals, and develop practical strategies for achieving them. The module underscored the importance of intentional financial planning as an essential life skill for future professionals entering the workforce.
The sessions were facilitated by Ms. Marianne Sengson, Branch Manager; Ms. Rochelle Paluga, Business Relationship Officer; and Ms. Jenine Casitas, Business Relationship Officer, who guided participants through the same learning module across different batches. Through engaging discussions and practical examples, the facilitators highlighted the value of planning ahead, managing finances responsibly, and building a strong financial foundation before embarking on their careers.
Through this partnership, Mapua MCL and RCBC reaffirm their shared commitment to advancing holistic student development by equipping future professionals with essential financial literacy skills that complement their academic and technical training.
Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, the program supports SDG 4: Quality Education by promoting financial literacy and lifelong learning, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth by preparing students for responsible financial participation in the workforce, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by strengthening collaboration between the academe and industry.
