Demonstrating its continued commitment to providing job opportunities and community engagement, Philippine Transmarine Carriers Inc. (PTC) successfully held its Cargo and Cruise Job Fair on September 3, 2026, at the AGAP Building of the Municipality of Balayan, Batangas.
Organized by PTC’s Talent Acquisition Group (TAG) in partnership with the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of Balayan, the one-day event served as a vital bridge between employers and job seekers, providing aspiring seafarers and hospitality professionals with direct access to career opportunities in the cargo and cruise shipping sectors.

More than 300 applicants from Balayan and neighboring cities and municipalities across Batangas participated in the event, reflecting the strong demand for employment opportunities in the region. From early morning, the venue was filled with job seekers eager to submit applications, undergo initial screening, and engage directly with representatives from PTC’s Recruitment and Training Department (RTD), Fatima Bocboc and Krisha Najito; Seaspan’s Frank Bernales and Jericho Francisco; and Jestine Docalas from the PTC Cruise Division. Through the interviews and career consultations, including discussions on available positions, attendees gained valuable insights into the qualifications and competencies needed to pursue successful careers at sea.
The significance of the event was underscored by the presence of Balayan Municipal Mayor Lisa Ermita, who personally visited the venue and interacted with applicants and PTC representatives. In her remarks, she shared, “I am truly encouraged by the energy and determination I saw today. So many of our kababayans from Balayan and nearby towns came ready to pursue better opportunities at sea and on board cruise ships. Events like this, made possible by PTC and our PESO office, bring hope closer to our communities. We will continue supporting initiatives that open doors for our people to build stable, meaningful careers.”

Job fairs such as this play a critical role in bringing employment opportunities closer to communities, particularly for individuals who may have limited access to industry networks and recruiters. Beyond recruitment, these engagements provide guidance, information, and visibility into career pathways that can lead to long-term professional growth. For PTC, participating in and organizing community-based job fairs forms an important part of its commitment to developing a sustainable talent pipeline while helping address the staffing needs of the global maritime and hospitality industries.
The successful conduct of the job fair also highlights the value of collaboration between the private and public sectors in expanding access to employment opportunities. By working closely with local government units and PESO offices, PTC is able to reach more communities, strengthen industry awareness, and connect qualified talent with meaningful careers in the maritime sector.
As PTC continues to engage with schools, communities, government partners, and industry stakeholders, initiatives such as these reinforce its broader mission of empowering Filipino talent and supporting the continued growth of the country’s maritime workforce. Through recruitment, training, and career development programs, PTC remains committed to helping Filipino seafarers and hospitality professionals build rewarding and sustainable careers while contributing to the global shipping and cruise industries.
