PTC engages UST students in Masterclass on Critical Thinking and Decision-Making

Reinforcing its commitment to help develop industry-ready talent, the Philippine Transmarine Carriers, Inc. (PTC), through its Talent Acquisition Group (TAG), recently participated in a Technical Masterclass for graduating students at the University of Santo Tomas (UST) led by the College of Commerce and Business Administration.

Held on May 20, 2026, at the UST Main Campus in Manila, the session gathered students across various business programs for a meaningful engagement centered on real-world industry insights and practical skills building with select Economics, Human Resources, Finance, and Marketing Management graduating students.

As part of TAG’s sustained efforts to strengthen academe partnerships, the masterclass served as a platform to equip graduating students with competencies essential for navigating today’s fast-evolving business environment across industries. John Paul Soto, Jr., Head of Recruitment and Talent Acquisition Group and Deputy Head of PTC’s Cruise Industry Business drew from his extensive industry experience and shared valuable insights and perspectives on professional growth, adaptability with his topic “The 5 Questions That Separate Leaders from Everyone Else” JP’s engaging delivery in this session of the masterclass focused on business problem solving and critical thinking—-the one skill that AI cannot replicate which drew curiosity and attention from his audience.

Throughout JP’s presentation, he was able to highlight the importance of evaluating real-world business scenarios, making informed, evidence-based, and data-driven decisions, and applying solutions to complex challenges. Students were guided on how to approach problems with clarity, logic, and confidence; these are skills that are increasingly essential regardless of their career paths.
