Safe4Shores: RHL, Marlow Navigation, and Jebsen PTC unite for Manila Bay cleanup

NOVEMBER 15, 2024

On November 12, 2024, Reederei Hamburger Lloyd (RHL), Marlow Navigation, and Jebsen PTC joined forces for a coastal cleanup at Manila Bay’s Dolomite Beach, organized by the Resilience and Sustainability for Empowerment (RSE) Foundation as part of its Safe4Shores initiative. This event focused on strengthening coastal resilience and promoting sustainability, especially in the wake of recent destructive typhoons—Kristine, Leon, and Nika—which left severe flooding and debris along coastal regions, including Metro Manila.

The teams collectively removed approximately 650 kilograms of debris, filling 130 sacks, and showcasing the essential role of the private sector in tackling environmental challenges. This collaborative effort highlighted the importance of community action and responsibility in protecting coastal ecosystems and preserving natural resources.

The cleanup was conducted in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), whose guidance contributed to the event's success. By working together, RHL, Marlow Navigation, Jebsen PTC, and RSE Foundation demonstrated a powerful commitment to safeguarding Manila Bay’s coastal areas for future generations.
