Carlo Ponce Angeles: A story of courage and perseverance

JULY 9, 2024

Carlo Ponce Angeles, a dedicated member of the PTC Sea Mariners program, exemplifies courage and perseverance. Carlo is a student at the Sto. Rosario National High School for SY 2023-2024 under the TVL-Maritime Strand. Carlo's journey underscores PTC's commitment to inspiring and guiding the youth toward maritime careers.

Carlo grew up in a humble home. His father sells plastic housewares, and his mother, despite her disability, works as a housekeeper to support Carlo and his younger sister. Aware of their financial struggles, Carlo became a working student, taking on part-time construction work to help cover his school expenses. Balancing the demands of work and study, Carlo graduated from senior high school with outstanding academic achievements.

Determined to pursue his maritime aspirations, Carlo now aims to study at Baliwag Maritime Academy (BMA), a valued partner of the Sea Mariners Program. If successful, he will continue his journey under the BMA ship.

Carlo is fully aware of the costs and challenges ahead. However, his determination remains unwavering. (If I don't get accepted into BMA now, I will work first and try again next year. I’d rather wait than continue in a course and university different from my dream.)

Carlo's story is a testament to the power of perseverance and the impact of dedicated support in helping young people achieve their dreams.
