The recent Career Orientation conducted by Sea Mariners, in partnership with Seaspan, proved to be a highly impactful event, reaching over 400 senior high school students, alumni, and parents. Led by Sir Andre Carlo Toribio, the program aimed to introduce participants to the wide range of career opportunities available in the maritime industry after graduating from senior high school. The session gathered students from the TVL–Maritime strand, as well as from TVL-Hospitality tracks such as Cookery and Bread & Pastry, alongside alumni interested in seafaring professions.
Participants came from Tunasan National High School, Santiago Syjuco Memorial Integrated Secondary School, Ismael Mathay Sr. High School, and San Pedro Relocation Center National High School. Through engaging discussions and informative presentations, the orientation equipped aspiring deck and catering trainees with essential knowledge about the skills, qualifications, and career pathways available in the maritime sector.
With Sir Andre’s guidance, both students and alumni gained a clearer understanding of the opportunities awaiting them—whether in deck operations or onboard catering services. Parents also benefited from the session by gaining valuable insights into the promising prospects and stability offered by maritime careers. The event not only broadened participants’ awareness but also inspired them to pursue their ambitions with greater clarity and purpose.
